USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins says the department will no longer allow Chinese investors and other foreign adversaries to purchase farmland in the U.S. According to Rollins, the USDA has already canceled seven active agreements with foreign countries of concern and removed roughly 70 people affiliated with those contracts.
It comes as the administration rolls out the National Farm Security Action Plan which aims to “claw back” farmland already purchased by those seen as a risk to national security. Rollins said the administration would no longer foster “sweetheart deals and secret pacts” with companies while noting the USDA is in the process of removing 550 other entities for similar reasons.
