Eight months ago, Los Angeles City Councilmember Kevin de León and activist Jason Reedy scuffled at a holiday event in Lincoln Heights. It was all caught on camera. De León and Reedy filed battery reports against each other. Now the City Attorney’s office says no charges will be filed against either party.
The confrontation came shortly after it was revealed de León took part in a leaked audio recording that featured racist and other derogatory language. Council President Nury Martinez and Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Ron Herrera resigned as a result of their participation in the meeting. Former Councilman Gil Sedillo is also on the recording. He lost a re-election bid.
