(Sacramento, CA) — The first hearing of California’s special session on gas prices will be held next Wednesday. The State Senate’s Utilities Energy and Communications committee has scheduled the hearing, which will be informational only. That means lawmakers will not be voting on the proposal to level price gouging penalties on oil companies for high gas prices. Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom first floated the proposal back in October, when Californians’ were paying more than two-dollars-and-sixty-cents at the pump than the national average. He then had a state senator file the bill for his proposal on December 5th.

Fail: Newsom’s ‘price gouging penalty’ not happening.
