The Los Angeles Police Department wants drivers to stash everything when they park. They say it’s important that everything is hidden from thieves – and they mean everything. One LAPD official says even relatively inexpensive items can be targeted by crooks.
“And it could be anything from a phone charger to change in the cup holder that they’re going to break the window out and take.”
A second LAPD official says it can get even more extreme.
“They’ll even break a window to get a bottle of water so that they can recycle the container whether it’s aluminum or plastic.”
The LAPD calls the new program “stash it, don’t flash it”.
