(Washington, DC) — House Republicans don’t plan to subpoena President Biden as they investigate his son Hunter. That’s according to Kentucky Congressman James Comer. He’ll likely become the House Oversight Committee chairman in the next Congress after Republicans take control of the chamber. Despite there being no plans to subpoena the President, Comer did say Hunter Biden will be subpoenaed. Comer has claimed the Biden family profited off Hunter’s foreign business dealings by “offering access” to themselves.
AG Garland Appoints Special Counsel In Trump Probes
(Washington, DC) — The nation’s attorney general is appointing a special counsel to determine whether criminal charges should be filed against former President Trump. The move by Merrick Garland is being made in regards to various Justice Department probes against Trump. One probe is focused on whether he broke the law storing White House documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. The other involves last year’s Capitol riot. Just this week, Trump announced another bid for the White House.
Garland said based on Trump’s announcement to run for President in 2024, and President Biden saying he intends to run for re-election, he thinks it’s best thing for the American people to appoint the special counsel. He said he appointed Jack Smith, a veteran prosecutor, to determine if charges should be brought against the former President. Garland said he’s confident this appointment won’t slow down the process of the investigation.
