Math Scores Drawing Big Concern With California Educators
(Undated) — A new analysis on California math scores is drawing big concerns with educators. EdSource reports 2021 results from the state’s Smarter Balanced tests showed that eighth graders math skills were comparable to fifth graders. Research also shows performance in the subject has been declining before the coronavirus pandemic. Progress was at a standstill last year and that’s being pointed at remote learning. The study’s publisher said the findings should not be overlooked, calling it “a five-alarm fire.”
