(Los Angeles, CA) — Southern Californians are getting out of town for the Labor Day weekend and yesterday marked the beginning of the getaway crunch. The Automobile Club of Southern California estimates 82-percent of Americans who plan to travel, will do so by car, truck, or SUV despite high gas prices. Officials at Los Angeles International Airport anticipate nearly a half million people will pass through checkpoints at airport terminals today through Monday. The top destinations for LAX travelers are Las Vegas, San Diego, Orlando, Alaska, Fort Lauderdale, Hawaii, and Europe.

Hit the holiday road, Jack.
