This week, we posted this story:
(Los Angeles, CA) — Los Angeles residents continue to heed calls to conserve water according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. There was an 11-percent reduction in water usage in July, compared to July of last year. That was a record decrease for any July in L.A. In June, there was a nine-percent cut in water usage compared to last year. It was also the least amount of water used in any June on record in the city. The city is in phase 3 outdoor watering restrictions that went into effect June 1st. It includes watering two days a week instead of three for eight minutes tops per station and only at certain times of day.
But, that is not apparently enough for the Governor, who never met a problem that couldn’t be solved by making it tougher on taxpayers…while telling residents of Texas and Florida to come here because we are free…
The governor says while conservation numbers are moving in the right direction over the last few months, the state can still impose mandatory rations if certain goals aren’t met.
California is pushing for new projects to increase water supplies, including desalination. Governor Gavin Newsom says California will lose ten-percent of it’s water supply in the next 20 years, and the state needs to create new sources, like recycled water, stormwater capture, and desalination.
