Organizers of Gascon Recall Campaign Say They Have Enough Signatures
(Los Angeles, CA) — An effort to recall Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon appears to be headed for the ballot. The organizers say they have nearly 567-thousand signatures as of Tuesday, which is enough to trigger a special election. That number equals ten-percent of all registered voters in L.A. County. The group, called Recall D.A. George Gascon, says it’s the most signatures ever collected on any petition in L.A. County. The campaign still has a goal of collecting 650 to 700-thousand signatures.
Gunman Involved In El Monte Police Shooting Was On Probation
(El Monte, CA) — Law enforcement officials say the gunman who killed two police officers in El Monte was on probation. Police say Justin Flores was a gang member out on probation for a weapons charge when he ambushed Michael Paredes and Joseph Santana. The wife of Flores says she tried to warn the police her husband had a gun when they arrived. Flores was killed after shooting both officers.
