Growing number of refugees from Ukraine and Russia are seeking asylum at U.S. border.
(San Diego, CA) — More Ukrainian refugees seeking asylum are being allowed to cross into the U.S. from Mexico. But some asylum seekers from Russia say they are being denied entry into the U.S. The Department of Homeland Security has told U.S. Border officials that case-by-case exceptions to Title 42 can be applied to Ukrainians. Title 42 is a pandemic-era policy that immigration advocates say is used to block certain migrants from claiming asylum.
