(London) — A new international study shows a link between COVID-19 deaths and high obesity rates. The World Obesity Federation said in its annual report that countries with normal average body mass index data did not have high COVID mortality rates. After observing multiple countries, analysts found a “close association” between severe COVID cases and higher bodyweight. Additionally, a U.S. study also found that obese people were twice as likely to be hospitalized due to COVID and were six times more likely to die after developing the disease.
