(Seattle, WA) — A 90-year-old Seattle woman is making the news after hiking six miles through nearly a foot of snow to get her first COVID-19 vaccine shot. Fran Goldman tells the Seattle Times she set her Sunday inoculation appointment last week without knowledge of the impending snowstorm. When Sunday morning came, she laced up her snow boots and multiple jackets and set out from her home in the Sand Point neighborhood to trek three miles to Seattle Children’s Hospital for her appointment and then three miles back home. Goldman says she’d been making multiple calls every day and searching the internet just to try to find an available appointment slot. Now that the woman has gotten her first dose of the vaccine, she says she is looking forward to holding her great-grandchildren again.
