(Sacramento, CA) — Governor Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home orders are once again the subject of a lawsuit. A complaint filed in federal court in Sacramento claims the orders are “draconian, dictatorial, and fundamentally un-American.” The owners of 58 Degrees & Holding Co., Visage Salon, and Sparkle Nail Bar say the County’s health director, who recently resigned, stated in a radio interview that “private gatherings” during the Thanksgiving holiday likely contributed to the rise in COVID-19 cases. The Plaintiffs want a judge to exempt their businesses from the order because the data shows that restaurants and salons aren’t super spreader sources.
