Americans Splurging On Halloween Candy
(Chicago, IL) — The coronavirus is not scaring Americans away from candy this Halloween. Research firm IRI and the National Confectioners Association say candy sales are up 13-percent over the past year. The increase in sales comes as the Centers for Disease Control explains the risk of trick or treating and how Halloween parties could continue spreading the coronavirus. Even with the warning, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said he isn’t banning trick-or-treating completely, though LA County Health Director Barbara Ferrer, who is not a medical doctor, says trick or treating is “not recommended’.
