>>Churches Sue Newsom Again Over State Ban
(Sacramento, CA) — Governor Gavin Newsom is facing another legal battle with California churches over his ban on singing and chanting inside houses of worship. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Calvary Chapel of Ukiah, Calvary Chapel of Fort Bragg and River of Life Church in Oroville, is seeking an injunction against the state health department’s order that places of worship must halt singing and chanting as part of the effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The three churches argue Newsom banned singing and chanting inside churches but not in any other locations such as the recent massive protests against police brutality. Health experts believe singing can pose a threat of spreading the virus because it can expel particles like coughing and sneezing can.
