The city wants a mass transit rail line for the Sepulveda Pass in time for the 2028 Summer Olympics. The idea is to link the Van Nuys Metro station and the Expro line in West LA and alleviate traffic. Several proposals include heavy rail using a tunnel and a less expensive, elevated monorail. Many residents are opposed to the monorail. Either way, the project could cost between 9 and 13 billion dollars.
