Joseph Solano was off-duty and in plain clothes when he was shot in the back of the head in an unprovoked random attack as he was waiting in line at fast food joint. The 13-year veteran of the force died two days later. On Monday a funeral for Solano will take place Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels in downtown L.A., with a private burial ceremony to follow. The suspected gunman is behind bars with no bail, and may be responsible for other crimes including murder.
