There’s been 400 very small quakes in just a few days near Fontana. But seismologists like Robert Graves say residents shouldn’t be too alarmed. The area does not sit on an actual fault line. ”Earthquakes occur on faults, so there’s probably a series of small weaknesses, cracks, in the underlying rock, in that area.” Graves and others at the United States Geological Survey say this does not appear to be a sign of a larger earthquake. In fact, many experts think this could be a way for an area to release pressure slowly instead of suddenly.
