Investigators: Motive Not Clear for Parents Who Kept Children Malnourished

David and Louise Turpin, are known to be very religious, leading to the speculation the apparent treatment of their children had some sort of connection. 

Riverside County Sheriff’s Commander Greg Fellows however says it’s still too early to tell. 

“As of right now, I have no information regarding any religious organization associated with this matter and our detective bureau is conducting a meticulous and detailed investigation.”

He also says there is no indication at this time of mental illness. The parents are being held in jail on $9-million dollars bail each.
