Voter apathy is hardly exclusive to La La Land. Still, Los Angeles presents a special problem. In the 2014 general election, L.A. County had the lowest voter participation in the entire state. The 2015 city election couldn’t even break double figures, with a microscopic 8.6 percent turnout. You can get more than 8.6 percent of Angelenos to show up for a nude yoga class
On Tuesday we’ll elect a mayor, city controller and city attorney, along with City Council members and vote “yes” or “no” on important ballot measures, including yet another sales tax hike and the controversial anti-big development Measure S.
