Senate-elect Kamala Harris says she’s going to continue to fight for immigrant rights despite Donald Trump’s proposed policies and a Republican-controlled senate.
“The election is over and now it’s time to get to work.”
Harris says she’s trying to be realistic when it comes to working on comprehensive immigration reform and now it’s time for others to do the same.
“Building a wall, I don’t think, should not be on that list and can not be on that list if one is being realistic.”
Standing in front of immigrants and their advocates, Harris says she hopes to work with Republicans but if they can’t compromise, she’ll fight back.
“This is something they’re gonna have to deal with. This is the new America.”
