An LAPD Watchdog Coalition is headed to court to get the Police Department to release records related to controversial surveillance program.
Stop LAPD Spying has filed two California Public Records Act requests to access the Suspicious Activity Reporting Program’s records. But Coalition president, Hamid Khan, says:
“They are completely not responding. They sent us some very basic documents about who’s in charge, but they are not releasing the copies of the actual Suspicious Activity Report.”
On Thursday, the coalition asked a Superior Court judge to set a trial date in a suit against the department to get their hands on the actual data culled from the reports. Tom Perumean, KABC NEWS.
